The Israeli license is valid for sailing in Israel, but to charter and operate a yacht abroad you need an international license recognized by charter companies. The three common options are ISSA, the Canadian license (PCOC) and the SLC.
ISSA International
ISSA (International Sailing Schools Association) is an international certification body founded in 1968. The Inshore Skipper level allows operating a yacht up to 24 meters in coastal waters, and the certificate is recognized in most charter destinations worldwide — with no expiry date.
Canadian International License (PCOC)
The Canadian license is accepted almost everywhere in the world, and can be obtained by a simple conversion for someone who already holds an Israeli license — or by full training for those who do not.
SLC — Skipper License Certificate
SLC is an international skipper certificate for private skippers, allowing you to charter and sail independently. It relies on an existing national license and is valid for about 3 years.
